Arbo Phase 1 and Community Open House Recap

In October 2025, Canada Lands Company’s Arbo team held a community open house to update the public on site preparation activities for Phase 1 of the Arbo neighbourhood development. The open house featured information boards outlining the Arbo District Plan, the project timeline and phasing, and upcoming work scheduled through 2027 to prepare the Phase 1 lands for construction.

This planned work at Arbo includes:

  • installation of site security fencing and tree preservation fencing,
  • the removal of some trees, shrubs and understorey outside of the woodlot,
  • the removal of some of the old roads and utilities,
  • watermain and sewer construction, including work within the Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West right-of-ways,
  • construction of Sugar Maple Way – the new east-west street south of the woodlot,
  • construction of a new signalized intersection at Sugar Maple Way and Keele Street,
  • rehabilitation of the existing pedestrian bridge,
  • park construction and woodlot restoration.

The information panels and a summary of the open house are available on the Arbo website. The project team will continue to keep the community informed of construction activities such as detours and other updates. Work in this area is set to begin in the coming weeks.
