Project Recap

Recent Progress
- Major underground infrastructure work including new water and sewer services is now substantially complete.
- Watermain installation along Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West has been completed, and restoration of surrounding boulevards and streetscapes is underway.
- Public access through the woodland continues to be maintained throughout construction, with no construction activities taking place within the woodland area itself.
What’s Next
- Restoration work along Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West will continue throughout the summer.
- Toronto Hydro is expected to begin utility relocation work on the east side of Keele Street in late July. Temporary sidewalk closures and minor pedestrian disruptions may occur during this work.
- Road construction will advance with the installation of the road base and the future connections of Sugar Maple Way to Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West.
- Temporary lane and sidewalk restrictions will be required near the commercial plaza on the west side of Keele Street as construction progresses.
- Sugar Maple Way is expected to reach the base asphalt stage by late 2026, marking a significant milestone toward completion.
Keele Street Sanitary Sewer
Project Recap
- Construction of a new sanitary sewer beneath Keele Street is underway using microtunnelling technology, an approach that significantly reduces surface disruption while allowing critical infrastructure to be installed below ground.
- The new sewer will provide essential servicing capacity to support future housing and growth in the area.

- Major milestones have been achieved over the past month, including the completion of key construction shafts and the start of tunnelling operations beneath Keele Street.
- Tunnelling crews have begun advancing north toward Sugar Maple Way, moving the project into its next phase of construction.

- Tunnelling and sewer installation activities will continue throughout the summer as crews steadily extend the new infrastructure northward.

- Lane reductions on Keele Street will remain in place while work continues; however, access for residents, businesses, and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
