Building More Homes for Canadians

Build Canada Homes (BCH) is a federal Crown corporation with a mandate to increase Canada’s housing supply and help make housing more affordable for Canadians.

Through partnerships with builders, developers, housing providers, governments, Indigenous partners and industry, Build Canada Homes helps deliver more homes in communities across Canada. By leveraging public lands, supporting innovative housing approaches and enabling projects that can be built at scale, the organization is helping increase housing supply where it is needed most.
Build Canada Homes is focused on:

  • Increasing the supply of housing across Canada
  • Supporting the development of affordable homes
  • Advancing innovative and modern approaches to homebuilding
  • Working with partners to unlock housing opportunities on public lands
  • Helping create complete, connected, and sustainable communities

BCH is committed to delivering solutions that respond to local needs while supporting long-term economic and community growth.

Integration of Canada Lands Company into Build Canada Homes
In September 2025, the Government of Canada announced the integration of Canada Lands Company into Build Canada Homes to bring its land portfolio and expertise under one roof to support the delivery of housing at scale.

This integration brings together a national portfolio of public lands, deep expertise in land development, and more than 30 years of experience transforming federal properties into complete communities.

Build Canada Homes and Arbo Downsview
Arbo Downsview is an emerging mixed-use neighbourhood on the edge of Downsview Park. Its vision includes new housing, including affordable housing, commercial and community uses, a new park at its centre focused on the existing woodland, and close connections to major transit.

Build Canada Homes now carries this work forward, with a focus on advancing the next phases of development and increasing housing supply. BCH will advance new housing while respecting Arbo’s established development vision, mature woodland and connection to Downsview Park.
